Inside the Renovation of St. Francis of Assisi Church

At Harman Construction, we take immense pride in transforming spaces and creating structures that stand as testaments to our craftsmanship and dedication. Our recently completed project at St. Francis of Assisi in Staunton, Virginia, is a prime example of this commitment. Ahead of schedule and with impeccable attention to detail, this project showcases the remarkable changes and improvements we’ve made to this historic church.

Welcoming Transformation

Upon entering through the main vestibule, visitors are greeted by a dramatic transformation. Previously, the entrance walls were bare, devoid of any adornment. Now, vibrant new murals greet parishioners and visitors alike. These hand-painted artworks, installed with a technique similar to wallpapering, add a warm and inviting touch to the church’s entrance.

Inside the Sanctuary

As you step further into the church, the most striking change is immediately apparent. The removal of scaffolding revealed a sanctuary that has been revitalized with an explosion of color and light. The newly painted walls, combined with carefully placed lighting, highlight the architectural beauty and intricate details of the space. The new oak flooring, laid over the existing structure, adds a touch of elegance and continuity throughout the church.

One of the standout features in the sanctuary is the refurbished light fixtures. These fixtures, relocated and refurbished, now provide uplighting that accentuates the golden details, making them truly pop. The front section of the church, with its new marble tile, updated wall coverings, and newly installed railing, represents the epitome of our craftsmanship. The crucifix, enhanced with new lighting and gold leafing, serves as a stunning focal point that draws the eye and uplifts the spirit.

Revitalized Chapel and Choir Loft

The chapel area also saw significant improvements. The pews, previously weather-damaged, have been completely restored and reinstalled, looking as good as new. The old strip lights have been replaced with new fixtures that not only provide better illumination but also blend seamlessly with the sanctuary’s aesthetic.

Moving towards the vestibule, the new baptistry on the right and the newly built confessional on the left are additional highlights of our work. The choir loft, a small yet critical area, underwent a major transformation. The organ was dismantled and relocated, creating a more functional space for the choir. With new mic stands, a piano, and a dedicated room for the choir, this area is now perfectly equipped for Sunday services.

A Project to Remember

The St. Francis of Assisi project has been one of our favorite endeavors at Harman Construction. From the vibrant murals at the entrance to the meticulously restored pews and the grand crucifix in the sanctuary, every aspect of this project showcases our dedication to quality and craftsmanship. We are proud to have had the opportunity to transform this historic church and provide a beautiful, functional space for the community.

Thank you for joining us on this journey from start to finish. The transformation of St. Francis of Assisi stands as a testament to what can be achieved with vision, dedication, and skilled craftsmanship. We look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence in all our future projects.
