Our Commitment to Our Community

Community service is an essential function in connecting with and supporting our local community. In 2021, Harman Construction celebrated 50 years of service in the Shenandoah Valley. While our purpose is to design and build great places for our clients to work and live, we find it equally important to give back to our own community here in the Valley.

Harman Construction’s team volunteers with Central Valley Habitat for Humanity in an effort to support their mission of providing families who are looking to improve their lives with a way to afford owning a home. The Central Valley Habitat for Humanity completes 4-5 houses a year but with the recent addition of a home repair program they will be able to serve even more families and allow families to stay in their homes longer. Their goal is to serve 10 families within the next year and Harman Construction is eager to continue to be a conduit for Central Valley Habitat for Humanity.

Wayne Witmer, President and CEO of Harman Construction and Habitat board member, recently joined David Wenger, Executive Director of Central Valley Habitat for Humanity, at a new build site to discuss the partnership they share. David attributes home ownership with making families better off socially, emotionally, physically, and financially. Wayne shared his admiration for seeing the joy of the families who partner with Central Valley Habitat for Humanity at groundbreaking events and ribbon cutting ceremonies.

A shared core value of both Harman Construction and Central Valley Habitat for Humanity is connecting with and supporting the community. By working with Central Valley Habitat for Humanity, we give our team at Harman Construction something bigger than themselves to focus on, giving them a natural sense of accomplishment, a sense of pride, and a clear sense of their identity in regard to their position within the community.
